Q: My insurance doesn't cover much of my dental bill. Is there a reason
for that?
A: Are you aware dental insurance coverage has not changed since the 1950's?
Because of this we need to start looking at dental insurance as an 'assistance'
only, and not rely on it so heavily.
Most dental insurances have had a maximum cap of $1,000. since the 1950's.
Yet, in the 1950's that maximum would help assist you on four to six crowns.
In todays world that $1,000. would help assist you with only two crowns.
Our office has another way of assisting you. When your dental treatment totals
over $200.00 for the day, and you pay the entire bill with cash or a check,
we will deduct 7% right off the top of the bill. For instance, your procedure
costs $500.00, we deduct $35.00, you pay only $465.00 for todays treatment.
We then bill your insurance for you. Your insurance company is then instructed
to reimburse you, not us. Typically insurance companies reimburse you within
the month.
This allows us to concentrate on and conduct exquisite dental business, not
spend our time figuring insurance business. This also allows us to 'cut our
costs' and pass the savings benefits directly to you!
Q: Why do my teeth keep having cavities?
A: If you continue to
get numerous cavities it is most likely either your diet, or
your diet, or your diet!
For example: Sodas are one of the worst things for your teeth. Many people
think they can drink diet soda as an alternative. Diet soda has a ph of 2.5.
Teeth dissolve at less than 4. ph. So if you sip your soda over a long period
of time, diet or not, the soda will dissolve your teeth, thus forming numerous
cavities. Acid is the primary cause of tooth decay. Sugar only helps the bacteria
multiply, which produces acid in bacteria's by-products. So any type of food
that takes a long time to eat such as hard candy or if you sip slowly on soda
your cavity index will be far above normal.
Fluoride mouthrinses, frequent brushing, and fluoride brushing gel are all
things that you can use to counteract this problem.
