Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a groundbreaking way to straighten your teeth. Instead of using brackets affixed to the front of your teeth that are guided along a wire, Invisalign gently shifts your teeth to their proper positions using a series of clear plastic trays.

To get you started with Invisalign, your Pacific Coast Smiles provider takes a 3D digital scan of your smile. No messy molds needed. This quick and easy process accurately captures the current positioning of your teeth. Using this information, your personalized Invisalign aligners are created. They’re 3D printed to fit precisely and even trimmed to align with your gumline. This gives you the most comfortable, virtually invisible fit possible.

You wear the first aligner in your set for one to two weeks as it moves your teeth slightly. When it’s time, you swap that aligner out for the next one in your series. By the time you finish the last aligner in your series — usually within 18 months or less — your teeth are beautifully aligned.

What is it like to live with Invisalign?

Invisalign is designed to fit comfortably into your life. You remove them to eat and pop them back in after you’re finished. That means that you never have to worry about avoiding certain foods or getting something stuck in your braces.

What’s more, you only need to wear your aligners between 20-22 hours a day. Not only can you take them out to eat, but you can also remove them to play sports, give presentations, or do any other activities during which you’d prefer not to wear your aligners.

Over the course of your Invisalign treatment, you visit Pacific Coast Smiles every six to eight weeks so the team can check your progress. But unlike adjustment appointments for traditional braces, these visits are quick and don’t leave with your mouth feeling sore.

Who can get Invisalign?

Invisalign is right for anyone who wants straighter teeth without the hassle and visibility of braces. If you’re a parent considering Invisalign for your teen, Pacific Coast Smiles can fit the aligners with a blue compliance indicator so you can rest easy knowing your son or daughter is wearing them enough.
